The prime document of the country Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was embraced by the agents of a constituent assembly (Loya Jirga), held between December 13, 2003 and January 4, 2004. It was formally approved by the Afghan President on January 26, 2004. The authoritative procedure in Afghanistan includes that any law must be affirmed by both Houses of the National Assembly before it is approved by the President.
