Bahrain is a small Arab monarchy
in the Persian Gulf, and it is also known as the Kingdom of Bahrain. The
country consists of a group of islands between the Qatar peninsula and the north
eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. Its being 3rd smallest nation in
Asia, has been famed since antiquity for its pearl fisheries. Earlier the
country was occupied by Portuguese and then it was turned into the rule of

The country is having two Constitutions
in its history. The Modern constitution is the one promulgated in the year
2002, and its modern historic constitution was of 1973. The Constitution of
1973 was written and promulgated after the independence of Bahrain from Britain
in the 1971. Then in the year 1999 the throne was taken over by Shaikh Hamad
bin Isa Al Khalifa, son of Amir Shaikh Isa Al Khalifa, and his Majesty king in
the year 2002 promulgated the 2002 Constitution without any public
consultation.
